And by what trail of evidence do you come to that (incidentally totally false)
conclusion? You make an unequivocal statement that I'm "busy again with (my)
TV stuff." What TV stuff would this be? Please cite the title, since you seem
to know something definitive that even I and my agent do not know about.

The reason this (well, let's call it what it is, shall we?) lie is so offensive
is that, after I finished Jeremiah in July, I had the option of jumping on
another show, but I elected instead to take a year off, partly to recover from
Jeremiah, but also to build up a backlog of scripts on the comics work so that
when I do jump on another show, there won't be any delays.

And there have been no delays in either title for going on two years. SP in
particular has come out like clockwork. The truth is never as colorful as a
really good lie, and the truth in this case is that both ASM and SP, among a
few other books, ran into some production glitches and got delayed. That's it.

ASM 507 is hitting stands this week, and I'm about to turn in 511 SP 9 hits
next week, and I'm about to turn in issue 13. You will note that in both
cases, I am four months ahead of delivery.

In addition, I've just turned in the first issues of the Doc Strange mini, plus
a new series I'm doing for Marvel.

So...you were quick to jump in with a falsehood. Let's see how quick you are
to jump in with an apology. Or do manners only run one way on the planet where
you come from?

If the assumption that he is doing TV stuff is "totally false," then this would seem to be further evidence pointing away from a TV series or telemovie. Throw in the "2.35:1" hint from a few weeks ago, and it seems even more likely the mystery project is a theatrical movie.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Crusade, not Season 5, that the Pak'Ma'Ra porno was aired?

Holy crap JMS is a prick. Nothing new there.

JMS is overreacting sometimes...

but maybe he used the "no tv" sentence just like the 2.35:1 hint.....

well, the original message could be read as a bit insulting.

it accuses jms of
a) not making deadlines
b) just doing the comics as a side-gig as long as he doesn't have any tv stuff to do, and that as soon as he has, they get the lowest priority.

You have to understand that jms seems to be rather disciplined, only missing deadlines if there is something major that prevents him from writing (giant marsian rat biting off his arms, for example).
And he is a comics fan, so the notion that he doesn't care about them could be insulting too.

also, in the message there's no ";)" or "*g*" or anything similar that would indicate how the message was meant, leaving the impression it was meant dead serious.

We have to remember that he told them they must know something neither he nor his agent knows for definite. This might mean a TV series has been discussed for the future, although probably not B5:TMOS

I wouldn’t call JMS a prick, he's actually one of the more accessible writer/producers out there considering the number posts he's made to his fans. What he is, is annoyed that someone made contrary assumptions on his focus and performance.

Scifi fans can be a bit rabid and overzealous at times, and given the some of weird fanboys that are out there, I sure he's considered just not communicating at all.

I always got the impression that JMS was very ethical, and the idea that he would forsake one set of fans in favour of another would be appalling. The message suggested that he considered the comic fans inferior to the B5 fans, and it is inappropriate and inconsiderate for someone in JMS' position to show undue favour to one group of fans above another.

Our Joe does speak his mind. I'd sure hate to get on the wrong side of him!

I think he might have taken it as if the guy was suggesting he was motivated mostly by money, therefore favouring TV work. I can't really blame him, I'd probably have reacted similarly myself. The message was probably fairly restrained, explaining the situation rather than just flaming the relevant nutcase.

You're probably right. Just alot of ppl don't bother argueing or putting their points across to fans. But thats one thing I like about JMS.
