View Full Version : Season 5 Review
Alpha-1

The DVD Journal (http://www.dvdjournal.com/index.html) had a quick Review of the Season 5 Babylon 5 DVD set on their page.
You can find it here (http://www.dvdjournal.com/quickreviews/b/babylon5.season05.q.shtml)
Warner's Babylon 5: The Complete Fifth Season DVD set once again delivers all 22 eps in strong anamorphic 1.78:1 transfers. We have no complaints about the visuals, even with the series' groundbreaking use of three-dimensional CGI more abundant than ever before (the assault on Centauri Prime is especially riveting). Again the DD 5.1 audio is as clear and clean as you could ask for, and though the soundspace spread isn't very dynamic there's enough oomph in the subwoofer when it's required. Chief among the extras are more audio commentary tracks.....

Apparently, Amazon has stopped shipping so that the product will arrive on the release date, and is instead shipping the product on the release date. I guess somebody mentioned how often pre-ordered products came early and ruined it for the rest of us. Jerk.
Though, given how quickly Amazon orders usually arrive, I'm hoping for mine on Friday. First thing I'm going to watch is "The Fall of Centauri Prime". Just after I watch the last act of the episode immediately preceding "The Fall of Centauri Prime".
"...and I did it. Just before I came to see you. The last thing I will ever have to do for them."
"What did they ask you to do?"
"To send away all the ships guarding Centauri Prime, and to deactivate the planetary defense network."
"No...."
"It's going to be a pretty night. The sky should be lighting up any time now...."
"NO!"
And Londo runs outside, and looks up, and sees the Narn fleet jumping out of hyperspace.
And the audience lets out a collective, "Oh, shit."

Well - I ordered from Amazon in order to support firstones via the affiliate program. It’s worth the extra wait to help keep this place (and sanfam) out of the red (and in the purple).
UPDATE: Season 5 came in the mail today! WoHoo! I feel it was worth a one day wait to support firstones.com!
Hope everyone elses come soon too!

Now if I only could first get Season 4.
(this delay between R1 and R2 releases sucks)

Mine arrived today as well.
One thing that surprised me was the section of deleted scenes from Sleeping In Light. I almost understood why they cut them, but there was one that was probably the best bittersweet moment I've ever gotten from television. You'll know it when you see it. The only good thing about them cutting it was it surprised me when I saw it, and I probably would've had it spoiled to all hell if everyone else saw it on the original airdate.

You're talking about General Ivanova taking a certain keepsake with her? Or about Sheridan with the newspaper?
I for one would love to see both those scenes re-integrated into the episode. Not the sniffles scene, though.

The Ivanova one. I'm trying to avoid spoiling it, because I think if I saw it coming, it wouldn't have had nearly the same punch.

So they do have uncut scenes on the dvds then! Great!

I finally got my S5 box set today, a few days later than I was expecting. I think the message from jms in the booklet is very well written and inspiring. For those who are curious and don't want to wait until they get their own box sets, here's a nice hi-res scan (http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/jlbiggs/images/b5_s5.jpg) I made (1.2MB file).

A great writing! Specially the end bit! :)
He meant something similar didn't he at end of S4 I think at end of video? I can't remember exactly what he said but I think it was something like "To those who thought we wouldn't make it". Perhaps someone else will remember better! :)

Dedicated to all those who thought that the Babylon Project would fail in its mission.
Fath manages.

THAT sends a chill down my spine everytime, just because of the inspiration it gives about never giving up one's dreams. The Seaon 5 booklet also almost made me damn near well up for the same reason. I know, i'm a softie.

Beckenn thanks. I have to laugh out how different (though yours is correct) that both our quotes means the same thing.
And how bad my memory serves me. :)
Akrovah, JMS has that effect on me too. :)
