shadow boxer,
Can you make a wing-art pic for me?
I'm one of an infinite number of small primates involved in a temporal study to see if we can create the complete works of Shakespeare. So far, all we've come up with is a bunch of gibberish, some sitcoms, and a few WWF scripts.
Not sure how you draw an infinite number of monkeys, but given enough time (which we happen to have), it is possible.
I can see it now. "WHAT THE *@%#! NO! IT NOT...IT IS!!...THE DREADED BOBO!!! AAHHHH! Gee, look at all those beautifully rendered monkeys.....where was I?....oh yeah, AAAHHHH!!!"
Beware of monkeys with too much time on their hands http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif
In the other thread, you seemed to indicate that your basing your queue priority on post-count. Could you include online time? I've been around since the "backwards" forums, about three-four years now.
BTW, appreciate all your volunteer work, too. It definately seems to be helping morale while we're in S14-announcement limbo.

OK, I have a great idea for Eternity's logo: An hour glass, traditional style with the wooden frame and sand, with the infinity symbol on it. You know, this one: the figure eight on its side. The symbolises infinite time, ie eternity.
OK, so that didn't work so well. Anyway, it's a figure eight on its side.

Good luck. Only one was ever made, and only one will ever be made. They have the ultimate con though, because everyone wants one after seeing me, so they send off money for one. Now you tell me.
According to quantum theory, it is theoretically possible to travel in time (yourself not withstanding, as we all know that you are a unique occurance and not scientifically replicatable under laboratory conditions).
Now if my money has arrived 4 light years away in the course of 2 weeks (the guaranteed delivery time), the money will have travelled faster than light, and therefor created a rip in the spacetime continueum. That would mean that my money would be there before I paid for it, and if I cancelled the check (or cheque, if you prefer), I should get twice my money back. Once for cancelling after I made the payment, and once when it arrived 4 LY away before I made the payment. If I do this several times per week, I should turn a tidy profit.
Thanks for the clue to perpetual monotary growth. And to think that all these years I actually worked and stuff.

Aha, but we are not talking about things as large as myself. We are talking about things as large as a cheque. Therefore your logic is irreverent.
Biggles, are you sure? So that's why my checkbook wouldn't balance in 1996. Damn, if I only knew then what I knew now I'd get trapped in another time travel paradox.

Schmacker mate, your name and a celtic knot just dont go... I decided the knot itself was distinctive enough in its own right... if you want to add "schmacker" undeneath, by all means do so but I dunno... no offence "Shmacker" smacks or a big set o glossy lips, not the work typical of an ancient powerful race of warrior artisans...
And just as a side issue, if you want a vector art program to have an anuerism... get it to try and draw celtic knots...
Schmacker mailed me before all the following so his gets a gurnsey first.

not so Biggles, celtic knots are just a clever enigma.
if you follow the lines, you'll see this one is simply three lines...
or if you look at just a triangular segment it's only two loops through each other...
that's the beauty and power of the "neverending line" sheer simplicity which looks like impossible complexity..
drawing celtic knots takes only one basic discipline (which I've quasi broken in this knot, but rules are meant to be broken especially when you've learned them).
over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under....

The easiest way to do it is to click on the link (you'll get an error page). Then click on the address window and add a space to the end of the URL. Then his "Refresh".

Biggles is right as usual, I am getting a bit precious and painterly about it but I still think they have some visual "nuts".
C mon... if you want wing art I need inspiration...
namely :
A. your piloting style
B. some sort of B5 or personal flag to wave... something unique to you. Otherwise you are leaving your self open to my bent imagination... http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif
Sanfam, I am at a little bit of a loss to come up with some symbology for your good self, I arrived at a sort of Firstones ketystone cop/Dick tracy cartoon to infer your moderatorship... gimme something to work with.
much like the above for c mon...
and Arik... I have done something for you and it looks pretty average... so you'll have to wait some more.

the knave of staves (or jack of spades to you card sharps), lent itself very well to this idea, the minbari warrior caste should I guess be from the suit of swords so I guess this guy should be a militant member of the religious caste... that fits better with wands or staves from the Tarot ( from which we base playing cards), staves being about human endeavour and spirit ( or Minbari as the case may be).
The bony crest on his head is a bit dodgy and overdrawn, it should be better later when its knocked back by soft colours.
Vertigo wants green dots on purple... which meant a clash as far as the type colour goes.. so it's yella now... K vert ?
As usual, comments and input please.

I think that is starting to get too complicated. Remember mine and how simple it was? Wing art really needs to be simple, since it's going to flash past at high speed.
Still looks good, though. I like Sanfams!

Sanfam, don't be greedy. http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif You get the "Anvil of God".
I hereby declare the first Sanfam concept to be an 'open' wingart. It can be adapted to others. If the whole Cagney/Bogart/Dick Tracy thing is your bag... then speak up. It doesnt need to be a cop.. you can be the robber too.. http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif

two potent symbols will clash and effectively dilute each other...

and he has ownership by renoun on anvils...

Hats off the the master of the wingart, you've convinced me to put in an order...
Hmn, flying style, eratic and charactorised by frequent and un-nesacery use of banking (more due to poor seating than any advanced flight skills). I also have the abit of limping into danger when all my systems are low, not though heroism, but because I havn't been paying attention to my readouts...
As for nicknames, "Vicky" (as in "the Viking") and "Troll" (as in big and clumsy). I won't go into why, but I don't really like either of them much...
Hobbies, well gaming, astronomy, writing, watching far-to-much/not-enough Sci-Fi. I also dabble in the programming and 3D stuff. I doubt any of that helps...

What? Nobody mentions:
This/That
Shaken/Stirred
Now the whole life and death thing would be valid except for the Schrodiger's cat. Quantum physics just totally messes up the whole equation (no pun intended).

duly noted and understood... and also valid...
but ( isnt there always one )
AI is a complex thing.... not very zen, simple or translated universally... on/off binary does... A very well known and understood symbol... that why I used it... wingart is a logo... a nutshelled version of the individual in question... and I'm sure you agree that you'd like some of the non-english speaking people who may see your wingart.. shortly before they get creamed... would like to know something about the guy who just smoked them... http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif
I could do 'pretty pictures'... but I'd rather cut off my arm with a potato peeler...
symbols turn me on.. http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif

Well, I have done programming more or less since the mid 80's and I didn't realise that those meant bits on/off in the pic, or even that they are numbers and not letters. Even if I knew I couldn't have made a connection to John. Sure he was a programmer in the ITF team, but most of all he was an Artificial Intelligence programmer and well known about that very thing. Whenever John's name is mentioned here everybody right away thinks that "Hey, he's that AI guy from the ITF team!". Not "He's that programmer from the ITF team!".
For outsiders who don't know who John is, those would be just normal letters 'O' and 'I', or 'A' and 'I', or numbers '0' and '1' and means nothing to them. If you want a logo to be universally understood, then it must not have letters or numbers, because they tell nothing to regular people, unless there's a word, or sentence. Well, '911' probably is an exception though.

thats the problem with symbols...
and also the best thing about them...
very few symbols will mean much to anybody unless they are explained...
even something as simple as the Nike Swoosh (tm) would mean diddly squat to a Kalahari bushman...
but to you and me we summon up all the brainwa.. I mean positive brand image that Nike has force fe.. used in thier advertising over the years...
I failed to make John's Art instantly recognised to you... or maybe I know John less or better than you do and my personal perceptions of the guy are different to yours and to me the 'core' person I know as Mister Walker is most assuredly into AI... but to me... they guy is more about the philosophical and bigger picture issues...
so... a bit of an impasse...
Life sucks... and rarely on your genitals... http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif
I guess in the end its John's decision, for the moment I post them here... they really aren't mine... they belong to thier respective owners...
I made them yes... I am proud of them... because in most cases I think they sucseed both just as 'pretty pictures' and as good symbols... (for the most part.. http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif )I also think they help to bind us all together...
There's nothing like belonging sometimes...
Incidentally, if anyone else out there makes wingart or something like it... please... post it here. My intention has never been to monopolise this field, though it seems by default I have...
by all means... come kick my artistic butt...
speaking of which...
this is like preaching to the Pope but no-ones ever going to accuse me of being shy and retiring...
I hope you like it<a href="http://geocities.com/craegs/jack.jpg"target=_blank >Jack.</a>

I understood the AI thing, but the point of the logo is opposites. That was what I was saying.
And yes, AI is far more recognisable, but also not as cool. http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/smile.gif

Hey Shadow Boxer, do you post art at "Polykarbon" ?
If so you should know the way to get around the direct linking bann for geocities and angelfire. Im only assuming you do because someone named "shadow boxer" posts there too. it does get annoying copying links and then pasting them, and its really easy to get around that. In any case i like your art. but im kinda the new person here so i dont know what its all suposed to be for.

In regards to the geocities link intercepts...
If you click on the link, then you get the intercept page, but then all you have to do is click in the address field and hit enter again for it to work.
You don't even have to paste it over again...

thanks * , I know the geocities direct link thing, but like Jacks pointed out... you simply click the link... let it load the intercept page for a nanosecond or seven, stop it loading, click in the address field and hit return... no biggie once you know the trick.. no ads, no crap, no problems... http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif
tell the poluka at polykarbon, where-ever that is, that he's a photocopy of the original.. http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif
Can someone post one of thier renders of this stuff applied so * knows what its for ?
cough/A#/cough/Reaper/cough... come to think of it... go back through this thread mate... I think you'll find a link to "furiesduty" or something along those lines...
then all should becone clear... http://216.15.145.59/mainforums/biggrin.gif

Well what i was talking about, is that when you upload the pictures to one of the servers that prohibit direct linking, you simply rename the file with a txt extention. geocities, homestead, and tripod dont block direct linking of text files. Not to mention a jpg with a txt extention can still be viewed as a jpg (assuming you dont use netscape). No need to copy or paste or stop and do any messy stuff, it just shows up right on que, here ill show you.
see nice and purdy, as long as you know the html or the ezcode http://newman_66.tripod.com/android.txt
ok, well ill just use links if i want to send an img

* mate... thanks once again and yeah its all possible... but
some time ago we all ( Firstones ) decided to not post any piccies to come up in the actual thread... once you get four or five pics... suddenly us poor schmucks with 56K modems are dying of old age waiting for the threads to load...
so yeah... it can be done... but it isnt.
so feel free to post links...
but no in-thread images... cheers...
Nice image by the way...

ya know what really torques me off.... those sodding little intake depressions in the wingart space.... wish they were easily textured so they could be used for wingart space.... sigh... I guess it's a pain in the arse trying to match edges etc...
