Lorien: We hope to have (may already have) a good number of people dropping in from auxiliary sites, b5 sites not game related, and news sites, all looking for ways to support B5: ITF. I don't think the FO.com frontpage is adequately geared to help them. So, I propose sticking at the "TOP" something like this (or a link to it, or something).
PS This is a copy of a message posted in the general discussion board. I'm also mailing this to you.
Greetings, and welcome to firstones.com! We're working hard to save the much-anticipated computer game, Babylon 5: Into The Fire.
If you're just tuning in, you may not be aware of all the actions *you* can take to make your voice
heard. Here are a few of the most promising:
1. ADD YOURSELF TO THE CONTACT LIST. Post a reply to the "contact list" thread right here on
the message board! Get the latest on efforts to save B5:ITF, and up-to-the-minute news!
2. VOTE YOUR OPINIONS. The gaming news sites www.gamespot.com (http://www.gamespot.com) and www.agn3d.com (http://www.agn3d.com) are
holding polls on the fate of B5:ITF. Add your voice of outrage!
3. SIGN THE PETITION. As a show of solidarity, Ryan C. Gaynor ("Death First One") is assembling
a petition to notify Sierra of our displeasure with the cancellation and our desire for the completion of
B5:ITF by another company.
Ryan is an old hand at e-mail petitions, having written a previous petition protesting an earlier
shakeup and relocation of the B5:ITF development team. Simply send an email to Ryan with "B5:ITF"
in the subject line. Write your name and e-mail address in the first line of the body, like so:
Ryan C. Gaynor gt8878b@prism.gatech.edu
Make a show of support for this great game!
4. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD. While we *don't* want hate mail going out, polite and to-the-point
letters probably won't hurt. We need to keep Sierra, the press, and the other gaming companies
aware that *we are here* and we won't go away. Various and sundry e-mail lists are floating around;
some sites have set up special accounts for B5:ITF-related messages. Use discretion, and find the
best mode of contact for each company/organization.
5. JOIN THE CHATS! A constant chat has been set up for us by firstones.com -- just follow the link
on the front page. **In addition**, two chats have been set up for communication, planning, and
news-sharing regarding our game-saving efforts.
(a) On Friday, September 24 at 10 AM EDT (7 AM PDT, 3 PM British Time, 4 PM Central European
Time), a "Save B5:ITF" Chat will take place on firstones.com's chat session. A few developers will
drop in, and we can all prepare for supporting the devs, Sierra (to the extent of getting the rights
sold), and our prospective new publishers!
(b) This Sunday, FirstOnes.com is hosting a moderated chat with the ex-developers. This is your
chance to ask questions about the death of the game on the hands of Sierra and ask questions
about this great game.
--Time: Sunday, September 26th, 12:00 Pacific, 3:00 Eastern.
--Location: IRC, EFnet. #Babylon5 for the main moderated channel, #Babylon4 for posting questions
and unmoderated public discussion.
--Those new to IRC or those who have never visited EFnet should read this quick guide for getting on
IRC with a comprehensive server list. Newbies should do this early so they can ask for help if they
encounter problems.
6. STAY IN TOUCH! New ideas, discussions, and plans are popping up all the time here at
firstones.com.Open letters to the prospective buyers are already planned or in development. In
addition, *your* idea may be a valuable part of our campaign! So read and contribute to the message
boards and keep checking the press sites. Most of all: stay tuned!
